Doing the VFR transition east of the airport, you get a fantastic view of the field. To the left is the military apron with some B707s and a Southwest 737 is just about to line up on 25R. Otherwise it is pretty empty during the midday heat.

The western apron of Munich Airport, just 3,5 hours prior to the closure of the airport due to the vulcanic ash cloud. Some of the highlights in this pic include the Safi Airways A340, XL Airways "Willkommen im Urlaub", Germania's new livery and some of Condor's long-haul aircraft (the short-haul fleet was standing in front of the maintenance hangar). None of these aircraft made it out of MUC before the closure.

D-AVRC After being closed the day before due to the volcanic ash cloud, the airport if Munich has come to a complete standstill! LH's regional fleet of Avro RJs, CRJ and Dash 8 is seen sitting on the ground, with most of the engines and all ports and inlets covered to prevent any ash coming in. OH-LVF The stunning "Oneworld" c/s is being presented on this A319, leased from ILFC. Check out all the tails of the alliance members, painted on the body. The jetty has just been removed and the ramp agent is doing a final walk around the aircraft to check that all doors are closed and everything is the way it is supposed to be. (mehr von OH-LVF)
