United Kingdom - Air Force  Hawker Hurricane

Z3055 No.46 Squadron RAF. This Fighter interceptor is currently being restored at the Malta Aviation Museum (Ta’ Qali). Hawker Aircraft built the plane in 1941 in the 5th production batch with a Merlin XX engine. The aircraft was shipped to Malta but shortly afterwards crashed into the sea off the island (Zurrieq) on 4 July 1941, when piloted by Sgt. Thomas Hackston. The wreckage was raised from the seabed on 19 September 1995 for reconstruction by the Malta Historic Aircraft Preservation Group. (mehr von Z3055)
