The first time I have seen this plane from the inside. The cockpit isnt really that old-fashioned, is it? Must have been a great feeling sitting on the left seat and thundering up into the sky vertically! Provia 100F slide.

What an impressive bird! This is a plane capable of vertical take-offs due to the engines mounted to the wingtips. In level flight it will use the two "normal" engines mounted under the wings. Sadly never became a success.

D-EFJL Nice small prop. If you look out of the window you can see an Antonov AN-2 which does actually fly for sightseeing purposes! The wing to the left also belongs to an AN-2. Provia 100F. (more of D-EFJL)

1401 Close up of the nose of this beautiful bird. It isnt flying for 30 years now but I was told that it could be brought into the air quite easily again. Provia 100F slide.

RA-42402 You havent seen a shiny aircraft when you havent seen this one! Fresh paint on a beautiful three-holer cant be beat! Actually you just have to check out the jetblast effect and the see-through engine! Another one of the very interesting ski charter flights to MUC that day. RA-96009 Russians seem to be rather hot tempered as the pilot of this beautiful machine sped down the apron in no time leaving me juggling with my converter and the heavy lens with totally frozen hands to get it on film! Minolta Dynax 4 + Sigma 2.8/70-210 APO + Fuji Provia 100F. (more of RA-96009)

RA-85695 We got spoiled by Russian sound machines that day! Here another one is blurring a tail of some small prop with the new Lufthansa Regional colour scheme on it. Sometimes I just love Munich! Minolta Dynax 4 + Sigma 2.8/70-210 APO + Sigma 2x EX converter + Fuji Provia 100F. (more of RA-85695)

VP-BWF We even got an Aeroflot charter that day! Isnt that some great news having two A320s in the new livery parking next to each other? Do you think theres better weather in Moscow? Minolta Dynax 4 + Fuji Provia 100F. (more of VP-BWF)

VP-BDK Looked like great fun for this pilot! He pulled this bus around the corner like Michael Schumacher and by the way sweeped the apron with its exhaust. Must have felt at home with that weather ;-). Minolta Dynax 4 + Sigma 2.8/70-210 APO + Sigma 2x EX converter + Fuji Provia 100F. (more of VP-BDK)

VP-BDK This Russian pilot surely felt like at home! Great weather but not for photography. At this point I didnt feel neither my feet nor my hands anymore. Minolta Dynax 4 + Sigma 2.8/70-210 APO + Sigma 2x EX converter + Fuji Provia 100F. (more of VP-BDK)

N661UA No, temperatures around -10°C havent been sufficient! Then it also started to snow! Hopefully this aircraft is going somewhere where its warmer. Minolta Dynax 4 + Sigma 2.8/70-210 APO + Sigma 2x EX converter + Fuji Provia 100F. (more of N661UA)

PH-WXC Two tail-engined aircraft in comparison. Now, which one do you prefer (Three-holer, three-holer, three-holer...)? I love Tupolevs! Minolta Dynax 4 + Sigma 2.8/70-210 APO + Sigma 2x EX converter + Fuji Provia 100F. (more of PH-WXC)

N191DN Sweeping the apron with heavy equipment ;-). This Delta pilot made a rather violent turn on the apron to hide his shortcomings at the engine start some minutes earlier. It was just smoking for half a minute for each engine! Minolta Dynax 4 + Sigma 2.8/70-210 APO + Sigma 2x EX converter + Fuji Provia 100F. (more of N191DN)

RA-86570 Now here is something to take a deeper look into! One of the most beautiful aircraft in the world (Of course, it is a Russian one ;-)) is taxiing past another Russian beauty (RA-85833). In the background you can see the characteristic Munich tower and a Delta captain being so excited seeing this aircraft that he forgot how to start the engines properly and made his aircraft fart extensively two times! RA-86570 Thats the one we (a small group of spotters) waited for for hours! My feet were frozen to small ice blocks, I didnt feel my hands, my camera had a hard time copying with these temperatures. But you know what? It was all worth it! (more of RA-86570)

D-AIGP The engines look a bit small in this close-up. But there is no A345 or A346 coming to MUC so we have to stick with these birds. Not too bad, though. Minolta Dynax 4 + Sigma 2.8/70-210 APO + Sigma 2x EX converter + Fuji Velvia 50 + Minolta Dimage Scan Elite II. (more of D-AIGP)
