1. | Mike Hall (10-12-2017 06:11:01) Can’t believe I put in the tail # 69-16433 in the search engine and came up with a pic of my old Cobra from when I was stationed at Mainz- Finthen Army Airfield back in the 80’s.... If you look on the upper cowl you can see a black panther we painted on all our birds when we named ourselves the “Night-stalkers”....A little history on the helicopter in the pic...When I was assigned it , it had been canibalized and been on non flying status so I named it “Society’s Child” (which I even stated on front of the logbook)....After getting it back together it became the bird with the most logged flight hours in our unit....me and this bird have a history for sure, thanks for posting this picture of “Society’s Child “, really made my day.... |
2. | Darryl Melodias (14-12-2017 18:24:40) Hey Mike, I was at Finthen between Dec 86- Mar 89. I remember the Nightstalkers, had a couple of friends in A co. I was in D co, when I got there and transitioned to crew chief in C co and B co before I left. Found out many of the aircraft got either sold off to other countries or retired unfortunately. I crewed another phase hanger queen, 078, then 489, SNoopy, and finally 263. Hope alls well with you. |
